Highest recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting goes to Washoe County.

Reno, Nevada. March 31, 2015. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Washoe County by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This award is for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014, and marks the 33rd consecutive year Washoe County has received the prestigious honor.

“On behalf of Washoe County, I am proud to accept this award for the highest level of accounting professionalism. I would also like to take this time to thank the outstanding team of individuals in the Comptroller’s Department,” said Washoe County Comptroller Paul McArthur.

Government CAFRs are judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story. The GFOA is a nonprofit, professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
