Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Wildfire awareness event offers free chipping of highly flammable woody vegetation.

Reno, Nevada. May 14, 2015. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is teaming up with several local partners for Junk the Junipers.  Here’s your chance to prepare and hopefully prevent a wildfire by bringing ornamental junipers and other hazardous wildfire fuels to the Nevada Division of Forestry station for free chipping. Ornamental Junipers are highly flammable and should not be used within 30-feet of a house or other structures.

The Nevada Division of Forestry, in cooperation with Moana Nursery and the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, will be hosting its annual Junk the Junipers event at the Nevada Division of Forestry Station Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What: Junk the Junipers wildfire awareness event

When: Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m.to 1 p.m.

Where: Nevada Division of Forestry station at 885 Eastlake Blvd.

Items Accepted:

  • Junipers
  • Pines
  • Rabbitbrush
  • Sagebrush
  • Other woody vegetation

Items Not Accepted:

  • Construction lumber
  • Hazardous materials
  • Lawn clippings
