Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Commissioners proclaim June 2015 as Lake Tahoe Wildfire Awareness Month.

Reno, Nevada. May 19, 2015. The following report highlights several important agenda items from the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Videos of County Commission meetings are replayed regularly on WCTV (Charter Ch. 193). You may also watch videos-on-demand online.

Board proclaims June 2015 as Lake Tahoe Wildfire Awareness Month. The Board of County Commissioners proclaimed June 2015 as LakeTahoe Wildfire Awareness Month. This year’s theme “Improve Your Odds – Prepare for Wildfire” is a means for education and a call for residents of Washoe County to take action to reduce the wildfire threat to their homes and help their community move toward becoming a fire adapted community.

“Wildfire and fire of any kind is very dangerous and we appreciate the County getting this message out to make sure citizens are prepared for this fire season,” said North Lake Tahoe Fire Department Chief Mike Brown.

The Board also proclaimed the following:

The Board accepted more than $29,000 in donations on behalf of Washoe County Regional Animal Services for humane care and treatment of sick, injured, stray or abandoned animals and for Regional Parks and Open Space programs.
