Voting Rights and Mock Voting Event for Individuals with Disabilities

The event is Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at 10 a.m.

Reno, Nevada. Feb. 22, 2016. The Washoe County Registrar of Voters, High Sierra Industries and the Nevada Disabilities Advocacy and Law Center are hosting the Voting Rights and Mock Voting Event for Individuals with Disabilities. People will have the opportunity to learn about voting rights as they pertain to individuals with disabilities. There will be voting equipment available to cast a “practice” ballot, in hopes of helping the disabled become more familiar with the equipment used in Nevada.

This event is designed to help educate caregivers and individuals with disabilities about their voting rights as well as what options are available to them for casting their votes.

“We believe being able to have this hands-on practice will help with any anxiety a person may have about using a touch screen voting machine,” said Washoe County Registrar Luanne Cutler.
