Electronic sample ballots are environmentally-friendly and save tax payer dollars.

Reno, Nevada. March 23, 2016. The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office is now offering electronic sample ballots. Voters have the option to opt-out of receiving a paper copy of a sample ballot through the mail.

The Registrar of Voters Office will email those who sign up to go paperless, once sample ballots are available online. Per law, those who sign up will not have their email address released to any third parties.

“The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office is excited to offer an option that is not only environmentally-friendly but saves tax dollars as well,” said Washoe County Registrar Luanne Cutler.

Typically, sample ballots are available on the web one month before any election at www.washoecounty.us/voters. It’s quick and easy to retrieve a copy. All a voter has to do is enter his or her last name and date of birth in the “check your voter registration and election day information here” boxes. There’s a variety of information that pertains specifically to the individual voter such as: district information, Election Day polling place information, mail-in ballot status (if you requested one) as well as a sample ballot and ballot facsimile.

Once the opt-out form is completed it will become permanent. If a citizen prefers to start receiving paper copies again, a short form will make that happen.
