Washoe County Social Services and the Nevada Wolf Pack recognizing local foster and adoptive parents at game.

Reno, Nevada. May 4, 2016. Washoe County Social Services is teaming up with the Nevada Wolf Pack to celebrate Foster Parent Appreciation Month Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Peccole Park as the Wolf Pack baseball team hosts San Jose State. To show support for the fantastic foster and adoptive parents in Northern Nevada, nearly 200 foster family members will be honored at the annual foster parent appreciation event.

Coach Brian Polian and his wife, Laura, will address the foster parents with a motivational speech, as they are great partners and supporters of Washoe County’s Foster Care and Adoption Program.

Before the game begins, one of Washoe County’s foster families will be honored with the game ball and will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch. John and Patty Steen of Sparks, Nevada, have been licensed foster and adoptive parents for 13 years. They are joined by their children, Sarah, Brandon, and Maddy. The Steen family fostered 45 children. They are a great example for others when it comes to assisting Washoe County in reunifying children with their families.
