Reno, Nevada (October 18, 2016) — The 2016 Northern Nevada Regional Snow Workshop will be held October 19-20, 2016 at the Regional Public Safety Training Center. Participants will engage in a snow removal contest with operators from different regional entities maneuvering through a series of timed courses.

Representatives from the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County, Nevada Department of Transportation and Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority will collaborate to provide training and practical skills in preparation for the upcoming winter season.

The five entities will review the Interlocal Agreement, which aims to keep the area’s major roads open in case of a massive snow event like the region experienced in early 2005.

The workshop will also offer educational classes from 7 a.m. to noon each day of the event, where attendees can learn about weather and environmental concerns for winter operations and interact with snow removal operators from each of the different agencies in the northern Nevada region.

The event is not open to the public.
