Annual event seeks volunteers to get public garden ready for spring

Reno, Nev. April 24, 2017. The May Arboretum Staff, May Arboretum Society and Rail City Garden Center is in need of volunteers for the “Keep it Clean and Green” annual spring clean-up day at Washoe County’s Wilbur May Arboretum this Saturday, April 29.

“Keep it Clean and Green” at the Wilbur May Arboretum is an all-age volunteer event with hands-on work throughout the County’s public garden. “Join us for a day in the garden that will benefit thousands of other arboretum visitors throughout the year,” says Bill Carlos, Arboretum Horticulturist.

“Our community garden is a county treasure that we all get to enjoy,” says Washoe County Commissioner, Kitty Jung. “My hope is that people will come out to help, have a great time and leave knowing their work is something we can all take pride in.”

Everything needed for the cleanup will be supplied including refreshments, however the Arboretum asks that volunteers please bring their favorite gardening gloves.
