Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Public Workshop: Proposed Amendments to the Washoe County Development Code

Washoe County is looking for the public’s input on two potential Development Code Amendments relating to: 1) Building Placement Standard regarding how a setback is measured from an access easement and from the edge of County maintained road; AND 2) Height of an accessory structure located within the side or rear yard setback.

What:        Public Workshop about proposed amendments to Chapter 110 Development Code, Article 306 Accessory Uses and Structures, and Article 406 Building Placement Standards

When:       Thursday January 18, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

                  Washoe County Administration Complex, 1001 East Ninth Street, Reno

The Washoe County Community Services Department’s Planning and Building Division is hosting a public workshop regarding proposed amendments to Washoe County Code Chapter 110 (Development Code) relating to:

Article 406 – Building Placement Standards. Changing the requirement that a setback be measured from an access easement 20 feet wide or wider, to measuring a setback from an access easement when the easement is more than 20 feet wide; and, to clarify that when a County maintained road is partly or completely located outside of a public right-of-way or recorded easement, then the setback is measured from the edge of pavement. Article 306 – Accessory Uses and Structures. To clarify that when an accessory structure is permitted to be built within the rear or side yard setback, no part of the structure shall be more than 12 feet in height. Click HERE to access the Draft Ordinance.

Washoe County staff will be available to discuss the proposed amendments until 6 p.m.

Following public input, the amendments will be discussed by the Washoe County Planning Commission. The public hearing is tentatively scheduled for February 6, 2018 starting at 6:30 p.m.
