Kelli Oxborrow receives Have a Heart Award

Kelli

Reno, Nev. Feb. 28, 2018. Kelli Oxborrow, of the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, received the 2018 Heroes with Heart Award from Trauma Intervention Programs (TIP) of Northern Nevada, at the recent Annual Heroes with a Heart Dinner.  The event recognizes police, sheriffs, officers, firefighters and hospital personnel who went above the call of duty throughout the year to provide compassionate support to citizens in crisis. TIP is a national non-profit organization that specializes in assisting those who are emotionally traumatized in an emergency situation.

Oxborrow (pictured left with her daughter) is a Medicolegal Death Investigator/Technician and has worked for the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office for nearly six years. She received multiple nominations for the award for going above and beyond her duties, and consistently shows an abundance of compassion for everyone she comes into contact with.  In addition to winning the Heroes with Heart Award this year that honors unsung heroes, Oxborrow was also nominated for the award in 2017.

“This will come as no surprise to anyone who knows Kelli,” says Dr. Laura D. Knight, Washoe County Chief Medical Examiner & Coroner. “She consistently demonstrates dedication and compassion to her work and I am incredibly proud of her.”

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office serves 19 counties in Nevada and California and handles more than 4,600 reported deaths each year.
