Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Health status to be discussed in two forums in Reno and Las Vegas

The Nevada public health community will release, examine, and explore findings of the 2018 Nevada County Health Rankings and Roadmaps, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The event will be held in Reno at the Washoe County Commission Chambers, 1001 E. Ninth Street, Building A. A similar event will take place in Las Vegas at the Southern Nevada Health District, Red Rock Trail Conference Room, 280 South Decatur Boulevard, Las Vegas.

County Health Rankings are released annually by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, with meetings like Nevada’s being scheduled simultaneously nationwide. Nevada’s rankings are being announced at the events in Reno and Las Vegas. The Reno/Northern Nevada agenda includes:

The event is sponsored and supported by the Washoe County Health District, Southern Nevada Health District, Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Nevada Public Health Institute, Nevada Public Health Association, Nevada Public Health Foundation, Carson City Health and Human Services, University of Nevada School of Medicine, Truckee Meadows Healthy Communities, and Nevada Public Health Training Center. Public health professionals, healthcare providers and leaders, educators, and representatives from business and industry, government, and the non-profit community representing all sectors of the public health system are invited and expected to attend. Last year over 200 people participated in the popular event.
