Older Americans Month Opening Ceremonies is Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 10 a.m.

Reno, Nev. April 25, 2018. May means Older Americans Month and Washoe County Human Services Agency Senior Services Division, City of Reno, City of Sparks, and the Regional Transportation Commission are launching a fun-filled schedule beginning with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Washoe County Senior Services Center on 9th Street in Reno.

As part of opening ceremonies, Washoe County Human Services Agency Senior Services is hosting an information fair for seniors, highlighting several programs and services available for our elderly population. With more than 40 local agencies participating, citizens can also learn about ways to volunteer to help seniors.

“Older Americans Month is a great opportunity for our beloved seniors to learn what resources are available to them in our community,” said Washoe County Commission Chair Marsha Berkbigler. “Our seniors have given so much to Washoe County for so long, so I hope the community will join us in showing seniors the love and support they deserve.”
