WCDA Sentencing Result in Burglary Case

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a man convicted on multiple burglary charges has been sentenced as a habitual offender to a term of 20 years in prison.  Reese Samuel Frye, 23, from Reno, was sentenced earlier this week on 2 counts of Burglary stemming from two separate cases. Frye plead guilty earlier this year and must serve a minimum of 5 years in prison before parole eligibility begins.  Frye had 3 prior felony convictions that, along with the string of burglaries involved in the recent cases, were the basis of this office filing notice of intent to seek habitual criminal status for sentencing purposes. 

The case against Frye began in February, 2018 when the Reno Police Department (RPD) and the Sparks Police Department (SPD) began investigating a series of burglaries involving multiple area businesses.  Surveillance footage and other evidence identified Frye as the suspect and he was located by SPD patrol officers on March 20, 2018.  Frye was arrested and this office filed formal criminal charges against him. 

At sentencing Deputy District Attorney Mathew Lee argued that among Frye’s victims were several small businesses, including salons, a jeweler, a coffee shop, and a payday loan company, which were entered by pry-bar or window punch.  Frye was also ordered to pay restitution for damages to the victim businesses.
