Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Education Alliance of Washoe County Names New Executive Officers and Board Members

New Officers and Members for 2018-19

Reno, NV (July 13, 2018) – At the annual Board of Directors’ meeting, the Education Alliance of Washoe County elected new officers and members. 2018-19 Officers include: Dave Bianchi, Northwestern Mutual-President; Melissa Burnham, University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Vice President; Alex Woodley, City of Reno-Past President; Joe Cline, UNR Vice-Provost Undergraduate Education-Emeritus-Secretary; Eric Scheetz, Truckee River Flood Management Authority-Treasurer; Members-At-Large: Mariluz Garcia, UNR Dean’s Future Scholars; and Michelle Sanchez-Bickley, Renown Health.
 
In addition, the Executive Board has four permanent positions representing education in Washoe County: Traci Davis, Superintendent, Washoe County School District, represented by David Lasic, Chief of Staff; Karin Hilgersom, President, TMCC, newly represented by Melissa Deadmond, TMCC Associate Dean of Assessment & Planning / Accreditation Liaison Officer; Marc Johnson, President, UNR, represented by Melissa Burnham, Associate Dean, College of Education; and Kendall Inskip, Education Alliance Executive Director.
 
The Education Alliance welcomes two new Board members from important organizations in the community which contribute to the diversity of the Board. New members are: Lauren Garfinkel, Panasonic Energy of North America, and Ann Silver, Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce.
 
Returning Board members also include: Natha Anderson, Washoe Education Association; Brent Boynton, Reno Housing Authority; Bill Cathey, UNR Vice Provost-Emeritus; Mariah Evans, UNR Faculty Senate; Kris Layman, RE/MAX Realty Affiliates; Chris Morgan, Deloitte LLP; Charles Pasillas, Verus AEC; Nanette Quitt, NV Energy; Ben Rogers, NevadaNano; John Slaughter, Washoe County Manager; and Jill Tolles, Nevada State Assembly District 25. The Board is comprised of an exceptionally dedicated group of professionals and leaders who understand the importance of education in our community and have made it their priority. Efforts are focused on programs and events that include, Partners in Education, the Run for Education on October 21st, Principal for a Day on February 7th, Teachers’ Warehouse, and P-16 Advocacy.
