Award presentation to be held at Washoe County Commission Chambers on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018.

Reno, Nev. Aug. 27, 2018. Transfiguring Adoption and the Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) are honored to announce Yvette Clark of Reno, Nevada, as the recipient of this year’s Best Foster Parent in the U.S. award.

The Washoe County Commission will recognize Clark’s achievement and present her the Best Foster Parent in the U.S. award at 10 a.m., at the Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 board meeting.

Yvette has fostered children for more than ten years with HSA. Clark transformed the lives of two very young children, who struggled with feelings of worthlessness, as they were bounced from their birth home and then two potential adoptive placements. In addition, Clark helped transition the children into an adoptive home where they continue to thrive even today.

“We are honored and grateful for Ms. Clark’s unwavering kindness and love she has provided to numerous foster children,” HSA Director Amber Howell said. “Her compassion and dedication to Washoe County's children is remarkable. Words can never adequately express our appreciation for her time, devotion and commitment to helping our children live happy childhoods and brighter futures.”

The Best Foster Parent in the U.S. contest was created by Transfiguring Adoption, which resources foster and adoptive parents, to alert the public to the creative and self-sacrificing heroes who care for children from traumatic backgrounds in foster care on a daily basis.

“There are never enough quality foster parents in the United States at any given time, so someone with Clark’s passion for children and heart to help is rare,” said Co-Founder of Transfiguring Adoption Darren Fink. “Agencies could always use more people such as Yvette Clark. However, not everyone can or should take a child into their home, but everyone can be a part of helping children who are in the foster care system.”
