New hours at 4 library locations begin Monday, January 7, 2019.

Reno, NV. Dec. 14, 2018.  In an ongoing effort to better serve the community, hours are changing at four Washoe County Library locations. The new hours were approved by the Library’s Board of Trustees at their November 15, 2018 meeting. Changes will affect hours at the Downtown Reno, Duncan/Traner, Incline Village, and Sierra View Libraries.

According to Library Director Jeff Scott, “The changes allow the library to concentrate services during those hours in which the libraries are in greatest demand. The changes to hours will also provide for expanded programming and services to our community.  We are pleased that the Trustees approved the revised public hours and expand access at strategically located libraries.”

The new hours will go into effect the week of January 7, 2019. The Board of Trustees approved increased hours at three branches, including the restoration of 7-day service to the Downtown Reno Library. Other changes include opening one half-hour earlier on Wednesdays at the Duncan/Traner Community Library and expanding Tuesday evening hours at Incline Village. The Sierra View Library will no longer offer service on Sundays, but will have expanded Monday hours to meet the demand for library services.

Washoe County Library System is dedicated to providing free access to information and materials, and these changes will help the Library to better provide that access.  The Library System will continue to connect people with information, ideas and experiences to support an enriched and engaged community, one person at a time, and the new hours will provide opportunities for more residents to take advantage of the wide range of free services that contribute to economic development and an improved quality of life for the entire community.

The new hours at affected branches are as follows:
