Commissioners approve resolution of intent for Wildcreek property

Reno, Nev. Jan. 15, 2019. The following report highlights several important agenda items from the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting:

1. Commissioners adopt resolution of intent to transfer a portion of Wildcreek to WCSD. After discussion, Commissioners approved a resolution declaring Washoe County’s intent to convey to the Washoe County School District (WCSD) a portion of the property, commonly known as the Wildcreek Golf Course on Sullivan Lane in Sparks, and setting a date for a hearing at which objections and concerns from the citizens can be heard.

By approving this resolution, Washoe County Commissioners acknowledge it is in the best interest of Washoe County citizens to transfer the portion of the land to WCSD. The County Manager is authorized to select a date for a public hearing where objections can be publically heard and a final determination made to approve the transfer.

The date selected for the public hearing is February 12, 2019.

2. Commissioners issue Proclamation for National Radon Awareness Month. County Commissioners proclaim January 2019 as National Radon Awareness Month. Washoe County supports the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, the Nevada Division of Public Health, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to encourage all Washoe County residents to test their homes for radon, an odorless, colorless, naturally-occurring gas.

3. Commissioners approve Special District Funds for Commissioner Lucey. The Board of County Commissioners has approved special district funds disbursement for Commissioner Bob Lucey in the amount of $5,000 to benefit the following grants:
