Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Washoe County is Seeking Applicants to Serve on the Washoe County Planning Commission

Vacancy is to Represent Commission District 2

 

Reno, Nevada. March 18, 2019.  The Washoe County Community Services Department, Planning and Building  Division is accepting applications from residents living in the unincorporated portion of Washoe County Commission District 2 to serve on the Washoe County Planning Commission.

Unincorporated District 2 generally includes the Southeast Truckee Meadows area (includes Hidden Valley, Virginia Foothills areas, Rhodes Road area, and Pleasant Valley area), the Southwest Truckee Meadows area (includes the Mt Rose and Callahan Ranch areas), and Washoe Valley (includes both east and west Washoe Valleys). The Planning Commission regularly meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Washoe County Commission Chambers.  At times, special meetings of the Commission may be called by the Chair.

The Commission hears and decides on applications for abandonments, certain special use permits, and tentative subdivisions; it also makes recommendations concerning the County’s Master Plan, regulatory zone changes, and County’s land use regulations.  Meetings average 2 to 3 hours in duration.   The appointment is for a full four-year term commencing on the date of appointment to the Planning Commission by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants for the Planning Commission must be residents of unincorporated Washoe County and the area from which they are to be appointed (District 2).  They must also be registered voters.  The voter registration requirement may be waived by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.
