Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Older Americans Month Opening Ceremonies is Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 10 a.m.

Reno, Nev. April 29, 2019. May means Older Americans Month! We are excited to announce the Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA), City of Reno, City of Sparks, and the Regional Transportation Commission are collaborating to launch a fun-filled schedule of events to celebrate our seniors.

Older Americans Month festivities get underway with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at the Senior Services Center on 9th St., at 9 a.m. HSA will host a Senior Information Fair, featuring more than 40 agencies, which will provide important information about several programs and services available to our elderly population.

A special lunch will be served to seniors 60 and older for a suggested donation of $2. Individuals under the age of 60 may purchase a meal for $4.

What: Older Americans Month Opening Ceremonies

Where: Washoe County Senior Services Center, located at 1155 E. Ninth St., building E in Reno.

When: Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 10 a.m. (Information Fair opens at 9 a.m.).

 There are more than 80 events throughout May as part of this year’s theme to help seniors connect, create, contribute. Here are just a few events our valued seniors are invited to attend:

  • Reno Aces Senior Game Night and Donation Drive on Wednesday, May 1, at 6:35 p.m.
  • KOLO Cares Stuff A Bus Donation Drive on Thursday and Friday, May 23, 24, from 3- 7p.m.
  • Older Americans Month Closing Ceremonies on Friday, May 31, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Pick up a copy of the Older Americans Month program at Sparks City Hall, Reno City Hall, Incline Village Parks and Recreation, Sun Valley General Improvement District, and all Washoe County Libraries and senior centers.
