The Verdi-Mogul Fire Adaptive Community will host a wildfire preparedness event this Saturday.

Reno, Nev. July 31, 2019. The Verdi-Mogul Fire Adaptive Community is teaming up with Truckee Meadows Fire Department and the Nevada Department of Forestry for a Wildfire Preparedness Fair, this Saturday, August 3, outside Cabela’s (west parking lot) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The fair will give people of all ages a chance to learn how to prepare and respond when wildfires threaten their community.  Come meet and interact with first responders and agencies that play a role in emergency preparedness, along with local businesses and neighbors in a fun and informative environment.

Wildfires across the United States have taken more than 100 lives and cost more than $25 billion dollars in property losses in just the last two years.  That’s why it’s critical to take steps now to improve the safety of your home and community, as witnessed during the recent Sunset Fire in Verdi on July 11 that consumed 5 acres and threatened 25 homes.

Attend the event to learn about the importance of preparedness, planning, and the power of prevention.  More information can be found at www.verdifirewise.com.
