Washoe County to perform maintenance on inflatable dams beginning Monday

Work to take place on Pompe Way and Shane Way

Reno, Nev. Sept. 20, 2019. On Monday, September 23, Washoe County will resume maintenance on the inflatable dams along a section of Shane Way and Pompe Way. The work will include temporarily draining some water from the dams as part of regular maintenance ahead of the winter season.

On Tuesday, September 24, Nevada Department of Forestry (NDF) crews will assist County crews performing maintenance and repairs on portions of the dam.  Activities are expected to continue through the week until Friday, September 27.  Washoe County has made notifications with residents whose inflatable dams are located on their respective properties.

Once maintenance is completed, the dams will be refilled and remain in place for the winter.  Currently, the dams are not holding back water and there is no risk of flooding associated with this maintenance.  County staff continues to manage Swan Lake water levels and enhance evaporation efforts.

For non-emergency questions relating to protections on Pompe Way and Shane Way, please contact Washoe311, by dialing 3-1-1 from any phone or 775-328-2003.
