Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Our Place virtual press conference Wednesday, June 17, 2020

Reno, Nev. June 15, 2020. The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA), Washoe County Commission, and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, are excited to unveil phase one of Our Place, which provides an unprecedented approach to helping Washoe County’s women, children and families who are experiencing homelessness.

HSA partnered with the State of Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services to renovate existing buildings at the Northern Nevada Mental Health campus to better serve individuals experiencing homelessness in our area. Our Place separates populations, with the goal of increasing safety, enhancing programming and allowing more space for the Record Street residents.

In addition to housing, Our Place will provide clients with the following:

  • Mental health and substance abuse resources.
  • Reduction of jail admission/emergency room visits.
  • Prevention of foster care placements and preservation of families.
  • Employment and educational opportunities.

Background

The $17 million Our Place project is funded and approved by the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners. The Washoe County Community Services Department assisted in managing the planning, design, permitting, construction and post occupancy phases of development. HSA has project oversight, established program infrastructure, as well as manages and operates Our Place in conjunction with RISE.
