Downtown Reno Library Elevator News
Due to ongoing construction, the elevator at the Downtown Reno Library is currently not in service. Computers and restrooms are available on the main level for patrons who are unable to use the stairs, and staff can assist with retrieving materials from other levels.

Case against Jose Flores-Montelongo moves forward

A Washoe County Grand Jury has indicted former Reno middle school teacher Jose Flores-Montelongo on multiple charges of sexual misconduct and abuse based on allegations made by two former students. Officers with the Reno Police Department arrested Flores-Montelongo in April of 2022 following accusations of sexual misconduct with a former student. Following the arrest, a second victim came forward. Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Reno Police.

Flores-Montelongo is now facing 8 counts for the two victims, including Sexual Assault on a Child Under the Age of 14, Sexual Assault on a Child Under the Age of 16, Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of 14, Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of 16, and Sexual Misconduct Between a School Employee and a Student.

A jury trial is scheduled for June of 2024.
