Sentencing and Guilty Pleas in Three Separate Prosecutions

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has secured sentencing in connection with a recent drug trafficking trial, as well as two additional unrelated drug trafficking cases.

Lameda White, age 52, was sentenced to 25 years in prison with eligibility for parole in 10 years after being found guilty of Possession with Intent to Sell Schedule I Controlled Substance, and 60 months in prison with parole eligibility after 18 months for Trafficking in or Possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, in connection to her guilty verdict in a drug trafficking case involving 5 pounds of methamphetamine. White will serve these sentences concurrently; however, she will first have to serve 48 months with eligibility for parole in 19 months after she violated her probation in a separate case of Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance back in 2021. She will receive credit for time already served. White was convicted in a jury trial with the Honorable Judge Drakilich presiding and imposing the sentence.

At the sentencing hearing for White, Deputy District Attorney Michael Vieta-Kabell pointed out that because the Defendant had made a criminal career out of cooking, selling, and trafficking methamphetamine the lengthy sentences sought by the State were just. Mr. Vieta-Kabell also argued the Defendant’s possession of a firearm was deserving of additional time due to the separate and distinct danger illegal guns present for the public.

California resident Juan Cabrera-Bonilla, age 46, pled guilty to Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance, 400 Grams or More, following an arrest earlier this year. Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies initially stopped Cabrera-Bonilla for a traffic violation near the Boomtown exit on I-80 on January 21st. During the stop, the defendant provided conflicting information to the deputies and exhibited concerning behavior. A K9 unit initiated a free air sniff on the vehicle and indicated narcotics. Cabrera-Bonilla was arrested after 17 pounds of methamphetamine were found in the car.

33-year-old Jaime Guzman-Brambila of California has pled guilty to Trafficking in a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, 400 Grams or More. Guzman-Brambila was arrested by Reno Police detectives in September of 2022, following a narcotics operation where the defendant was found to be in possession of more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine.

Sentencings for both Cabrera-Bonilla and Guzman-Brambila are set for July 24th.
