Convicted of Multiple Counts of Burglary

A Reno man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison, with eligibility for parole after 9 years, after he was found guilty by a jury of all four counts of Burglary and four counts of Obtaining Property Under False Pretense.

On February 24, 2020, Reno Police received a report from a 76-year-old woman who said that Timothy Vanderlin (dob 12/6/72) had been a handyman for her for the last two years, and within the last month jewelry started going missing. When the victim confronted Vanderlin, he admitted to stealing the items and pawning them off for cash. During the investigation, detectives learned that the defendant had been selling stolen items at several pawn shops since the beginning of the year.

During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Richard Haas asked the Court to impose a lengthy sentence and highlighted the multiple times the Defendant pawned items belonging to the victim at different locations. The Honorable Judge Tammy Riggs presided and imposed the sentence.
