One Lucky Young Reader Will Throw Out the First Pitch!

Build a Better World, the 2017 Summer Reading Program from Washoe County Library System, is in full swing! In support of our efforts to champion literacy in our community, the Reno Aces has teamed up with the Library to offer free admission for kids and teens to Library Night with the Reno Aces on August 21, 2017.

Kids and teens registered for the Summer Reading Program can receive complimentary tickets to the August 21 game against the Fresno Grizzlies. Discounted general admission tickets may be purchased for $8 online, or at the ballpark on the day of the game.

“We encourage everyone in our community to join us for Library Night with the Reno Aces on August 21 to help us wrap up our 2017 Summer Reading Program,” said Library Director Jeff Scott. “We are proud to partner with the Reno Aces to offer such a fantastic prize. We are also grateful for all the generous support that we have received from donors that recognize and value public libraries for all the wonderful services and programs offered, including the Summer Reading Program.”

Funding for Washoe County Library System’s 2017 Summer Reading Program has been generously provided by the Friends of Washoe County Library and the Kinder Morgan Foundation. Washoe County Commission Vice-chair Marsha Berkbigler also contributed a large portion of her Special District Funds to support the Summer Reading Program.

The Library’s Summer Reading Program encourages everyone to work to Build a Better World. Children who participate keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed! It is not too late to sign up and start logging your reading to earn free books through August 31. Along the way, unlock badges, complete missions and reading lists, and play fun mini-games to keep you motivated to read all summer long.
